How grateful I am...

Wow....these holidays have really snuck up on me this year. Thanksgiving has come and gone and now is the time for Santa to bring gifts to all the good boys and girls. Where has this year gone to? So I've read others sharing how grateful they are and just thought that it was my turn since I have to much to really be grateful for.
First off, I have been tremendously blessed this year. Sometimes I think that I don't really deserve all that I have but nevertheless am grateful. I have a wonderful husband who works hard for his family. He makes it possible for me to stay at home with our son Dezi, who has blessed our lives in more ways than one, to raise and nurture him. I can't imagine not being with him now and it has been such a whirlwind to see how fast he has grown up and all that he has accomplished. And to think, I was there for it all. His first smiles and laughter, babbles and words, the first time he sat up and crawled, the first time he reached out for me, his first steps and the first time he ate solid food. All these amazing and yet simple accomplishments have happened right before my eyes and I'll always remember them. Thank you Gil for working so hard. I know your job isn't easy and that it takes a tole on you in more than one way but we really appreciate it and love you more than words can express. You are the best dad and husband ever!
I have a wonderful extended family who help my family when ever we need it. They are always there for us and I love them so so much. My family has a tradition that I really do cherish...we all (parents and sibs) get together at one of my sisters houses every Sunday and have family dinner and talk and catch up on things. It's a wonderful tradition that I will always treasure.
My calling as the YW Secretary isn't much but I am so grateful and thankful for everyone that I have associated with my calling. The girls teach me so much and keep me young and in the loop with the "hip" or "in things". They also keep me on my toes. I have awesome leaders that I work with too! They are the most hardworking, self sacrificing and loving women that I know. Always looking out for each other. It's nice to know that I have them to depend on.
And last but certainly not least, I am grateful for my Father in Heaven who makes this all possible. He has truly given me all that I wanted and more. I know he has my best interest and that I have been given challenges and trials to make me stronger or to learn from as well as numerous blessings to know he loves me.
I hope that we can all take the time this year to reflect upon what really matters and all the wonderful blessings we've had throughout this year. May you all be blessed with the love of our Father in Heaven and always be grateful for His Son Jesus Christ and what he has done for us. May we all strive to be more giving, loving and forgiving as Christ has been with us. I love you all and am grateful to have each of you in my life. Have a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year!
Love, Keli

Dezi's 1st Birthday Luau...

On November 1, 2008 we had Dezi's first birthday luau. It was at the Mililani Stake Center and we had a dinner. From what I heard it was a success. People loved the food and the kids had a great time. I guess I can say that it was all worth the headaches and stress that I had. The day started out as early as possible.
The original plan was that my family was going to come to our house for halloween and trick or treat and eat dinner, then we were going to go to the chapel to set up at least the tables and chairs. But when I called the person that I was supposed to get the key from they said I couldn't do that. Supposedly someone was using the chapel that night? Anyway I asked a friend of mine what was happening in the chapel since she was there for trunk or treat in the parking lot and she said nothing's going on the cultural hall looks empty. I don't know what the big deal was about me not being able to set up that night. But I still listened.
So this is the set up from the stage.

The food was awesome! Vonn Logan catered the event. He is so nice and very much a professional. The food was ready on time and everything tasted great! We had the typical hawaiian food and for pupu's we had an array of lumpia, chips & dip, soy beans and a lot of other stuff. The dessert was awesome too. My family made the desserts and pupu's.

This was the "game center" I guess you could say. We had a fishing game, make your own visor, bean bag toss, basketball, and a ring toss game. Plus the big jumper. (what a story that was)

These are my beautiful sisters who were my sign in people. And the sandcastle on the table is the card box that Gil's mom made.

This was the favor. Chocolate chip cookies with a frosting beachball on the top. Never, ever, ever again will I do this favor. First we had to bake all 250 cookies and then air seal them all. Then we decorated each cookie (the day before) to look like a beach ball. A lot of tedious work and not really worth it. It took us ALL day. Literally. My mom and dad, sisters and me were doing them at first, then I got so desperate that I let my niece and nephew help out. Next time i'll buy them.

This is the stage. My mom's friend, Miles, from work does this kind of stuff on the side. He was so happy to volunteer. He asked my mom over & over again if he could do a party for us cause he knows we have a lot of little ones. He did a couple of our parties before. He did all the pillars and the clusters around the windows, he basically did everything, except the stage. I'm proud to say that it was my idea and it turned out great. With the exception of a few trial and error runs.

These were the center pieces. Buckets with a towel and some beach toys. And balloons were attached to every other one. We also had little beach balls between the buckets. Gil came up with this idea. He was so proud.

Dezi's cake from Sam's. Don't ever go there if you want your cakes on time. This is the 3rd time they did this to us. So the cake was supposed to be ready to pick up at 10 in the morning. Well we called just make sure it was ready and the lady says, "Your cake is the one with the pirates of the carribean background only with toys on the side, correct?" "Yes." "Okay well it not's ready. Your cake is white with like smudge marks of blue." "What!!!!" "I can have the workers stop what there doing and just work on your cake right now and it will be done in 15 min." So I send my father to pick up the cake 20-25 min. later and the cake is still not ready. They didn't even start on it till my dad got there to pick it up. Uuuuugggggghhhhh! Like I didn't have enough to worry about already. Well the cake arrived with my dad finally and it looked okay. I didn't want to deal with it already.

Happy (and tired) parents now that the party was almost over. And the tired party pooper boy. He didn't really have a good nap all day and he was playing the whole day while we were setting up. So at the party he was moody. Sorry everyone. He does love you all!

These are my awesome helpers without Kauwe and Eva. They helped so much. They showed up early and on time and worked worked worked till everything was done. The party started at 5pm, we didn't finish till almost 4. Thank you all for helping out with everything it wouldn't have turned out half as nice without your help. They even stayed and cleaned up afterward.

Okay another quick story about the jumper. So I headed home about 3:45 to get ready, well the jumper guy called and said sorry i'm late but i'm lost. It wasn't a big deal that he was late cause the party didn't even start yet so I didn't really care, and told him that. So after giving him directions and making sure he knew where he was going, he said okay i'll be there in 5 min. So I turn around go back to the chapel and we get there at the same time. After setting up the jumper he gives me the total and says I only take cash. I asked if had change and he looked at me and rolled his head while he said "No." So I asked my grandmother if she had little bills to give him the right amount. Well after she leaves to go to her car he looks at me and says, "tip?" I just looked at him for a second shocked that he even had the nerve to say that. So I give the money and said, "Fine, here, just take it." He turns around and says (while he is walking away) "thanks, your the first today." (to give him a tip). Gee wonder why. Anyway he comes back because he forgets his little clipboard thing, then walks away again and says, "Oh, sorry for being late again." Aaaaagggghhhhhhh!!!! What the mailto:$@*!!! I wanted to hit him so bad then take the money back. Then when he comes to pick up the jumper, he says to my sister, "I forgot my dolly so i'm gonna use this thing." The thing that you put the tables on and roll under the stage. What a guy huh! So glad that it's over.
Okay so that wasn't a quick story but I had to vent!
Dezi got a lot of good presents and didn't even care about opening them. I tried to make it look fun and he didn't care. He just wanted the present inside. Don't blame him though. Thanks for all those who came to help celebrate his birthday!

Twilight the movie...

Okay for those of you who have not seen the movie this blog is not for you to read just yet.....unless you don't really care.
Oh my goodness...
Twilight was a good movie. I say good because I love the actor they picked for Edward. He is so mysterious and almost scary (vampire-ish) looking but so handsome and debonaire (sp?) at the same time. I would love to have an Edward in my life.....fictionally of course. I guess you could say Gil is my Edward, without the whole mysterious sexy looking face, can read your mind, sexy eyes, follows you everywhere and can crush vans to protect me, and fly me through the sky kind of thing. But he is still my perfect Edward. Anyway I did like the movie however they did had to cut some things out so I think if you didn't read the book you would sort of, in a way, kinda be like....wha..? But I still liked it and would watch it again! Hopefully tonight with Gil so he can pick up some moves of his own! Ha ha ha ha ha...!!!! Okay too much info. Anyway for those of you who are going to or did watch it let me know what you thought. I'm so curious and for you die hard Twilight fans call me up and we'll see it again! Okay I guess I can say it was a great movie!

Halloween 2008...

Halloween 2008 was the funnest (I know that's not a word) for my family!!! We all dressed up. Everyone came down to the Deliz house for trick or treating and then we all ate some pizza and pasta and other yummy treats for dinner. We walked around the Mauka area of Mililani (just around our house) and there were a lot of things to see and the kids had tons of fun.

We had...

a paintballer (Gil) and Dezi was Go Han from Dragonball Z

this was taken after we came back so he was tired and cranky.

a cat (Kezley), and Miami Vice guy (Kauwe)

you can't see it in the photo but he brushed his hair like that side part and gelled it and had a pink polo with white pants and those preppy shoes.

a witch (Naysa)

Jasmin (Bela), monkey (Kia'i), pirates (Krysta Liana, Taylin, & Hailey), Pocahontas (Aleena)

Sleeping Beauty (Keely), a samurai (Keoni) and I couldn't find a pic. of Cody but I don't even know what he was.

But the winners for the best costume were....

......

.....

.......

.......

.......

........

The sisters!

We all dressed up in 80's attire and had a ball teasing each other and helping each other tease our hair. It was so much fun this year. We were all (well the sisters) together finally and so it was nice to do something crazy together. As you can see Kapua (in white) and Eva (in red) were going to the prom and the rest of us were regular or punk rock 80's. What do you think?

These are our 80's poses. I didn't know what to do so that's what I came up with...?....I was little in the 80's so I don't know how they really posed.

I know it's late but....

Happy Halloween!

Hope everyone had a safe and fun one!

He's not zero anymore...
He's ONE!

On October 28, 2008 my sweet baby turned one! This was a day of excitment, joy, sadness, and confusion all at once. I don't how you other moms felt on this day but it was kind of hard for me...a little. I was excited of course because my baby was turning one. A big milestone for us here in Hawaii. However, I felt sad because he turned one. He is just growing to fast for me and I don't know if it's because he's my first born or my only child.....so far, but I realized he will very soon not be my little baby anymore but my little boy, man, you get the picture. And soon enough there will come a day when he won't need me anymore. Ugh! I dread that day. Despite how I felt I made sure it was HIS day and let him have pretty much all the fun he wanted.

It actually started out at 3 am in the morning. He usually gets up once, sometimes twice a night and either I lay him in bed with us till he falls asleep and then put him back in his crib, or, if it's close enough to the time we wake up I just let him sleep in our bed till we wake up. Well since it technically was his birthday I let him sleep with me through out the night. I say me because Gil was sleeping on the couch that night...... Ha ha! I know what your thinking.... no he was not in trouble with me but he caught the flu starting sunday night and since Dezi's party was that Saturday I didn't want to take any chances with him getting sick. Especially because he and I were sick with the flu just 2 weeks earlier. So needless to say I had him the entire week to myself even though Gil was at home. Gil didn't touch him or even breath in his direction because I was so paranoid. I did not want a repeat. Anyway, when Dezi woke up I sang happy birthday to him twice, then he got some calls from Tutu Thiim, Aunty U'i, Aunty Chalei and Aunty Kapua. They all sang happy birthday to him and he loved it. He clapped and smiled at the phone while I held it. It was on speaker phone by the way. I made him some breakfast, well, mixed it. He loves his step 3 baby food, oatmeal with cinnamon and apples so that's what he had. After breakfast we got ready for the day and I dressed him in his birthday onesie. I know, he'll never wear it again but it was too cute!

You can read his outfit better in the picture below.

Then we played all morning with what ever he wanted... even things he shouldn't be playing with....shhhhhh!!! Nothing harmful to him of course. He took a nice long nap and when he got up I made him some juice in a sippy cup with lunch. Then we played some more, watched a couple einstein movies, ran a few errands that I needed to get done, took another nap, then got ready for his family party at Farrell's.

[ Gil wasn't able to go cause he was sick :( ]

Since none of our family has ever eaten there I thought "Let's try it, it could be fun and they do birthdays all the time." I hear them singing, and the sirens, every time I go to Pearl Ridge, even in the day. So there was about 23 of us total and I think he enjoyed it. The food was pretty good for a dessert place. They had mostly burgers and sandwiches along with a few other items. Everyone talked and I think generally had a good time. The workers came and sang him happy birthday and I don't know if he totally knew what to make of it, but boy did he grind. He had some of my burger, and some fries for the first time (only cause it was his birthday and he won't have any more till the next one), and some of his free birthday birthday ice cream. He was in total heaven after having the fries. I had to hide them from him so that he wouldn't get mad, or eat the whole basket. Overall we had fun even though there were a few snags in the evening.

When we arrived at Farrell's they decided to tell us then that when we sit down we would have a 90 min. time limit. For 23 people....yeah right!!! At first I was like, "okay, I think we might be okay." Then as the night went by I was thinking, "By the time we get our food they're gonna be kicking us out." It took about 5 min. to take our drink order, 10 min. to take our dinner order, almost 50 min. to get our food, which left us about 30 min. to eat dinner and order/eat dessert, sing happy birthday, and pay the bill. And since some of the family was late, some things took even longer. She even told my brother-in-law that he couldn't sit with us cause our time already started but that he could sit at a booth next to us and start his own time. I don't even know where to start with that so i'm not (He sat with us anyway). We were supposed to be out by 7:15. Obviously we went over our time limit (by about 10 min.) and all though you could tell our waitress was trying to be nice about it, you could also tell she was trying to hurry to get us out. Just a little something I noticed, the restaurant wasn't even that full, in fact, not even half full and there was no one waiting when we left. That bugged me a little but whatever. I don't know if i'll go there again, but if I do......it will be with a lot less people.

Here's a video of the workers singing happy birthday to Dezi.

learn how to sew....check....

I can now say that I can sew!! Well not totally by myself but if someone threads the bobin and gets me going I can do almost anything! Oh gosh let's not get carried away. Thanks to Cami I can sew at least a blanket. It all started when we were at mutual one night. As we were leaving to go home I saw some ladies knitting or quilting or something. It was a random thought but I blurtted out that I wanted to learn how to at least basic sew. Cami then looked at me and said, "What?" I told her, "Didn't you see those ladies in there sewing or whatever they were doing? Totally random I know but I want to learn how to sew." I don't think those were my exact words but that was the jist of it. She then gave me this look like should I tell her, should I not? Then...she just told me. "Well it was going to be a surprise but when I visited my parents I bought some material to make Dezi a blanket for his birthday and the material design is super cute! So if you want you can come over, i'll teach you how to sew it? " Me: "Are you serious? Yeah I wanna do it!!!! Are you sure? Yeah i'll do it!!!"(again not my exact words but I was to excited to remember what I said) I was so excited that I was gonna get the opportunity to actually learn how to sew. The process of it was totally a different story.

So I go to Cami's house and she has everything set up already. After eating dinner, which I made and brought over....wasn't it the bomb Cami?...LOL!!! We started on the blanket. As you can see from the pictures below the blanket is made out of strips. So I ironed each strip, then we pinned the two sides together and I began to sew, repeating the process, adding on each panel strip at a time. Everything was going great and we were on a roll until we got to the last panel. FIGURES! As we were starting to sew the last panel the machine, which we borrowed from another sister in the ward, all of a sudden wouldn't sew. Despite all of Cami's efforts the darn thing just wouldn't work. I don't know about Cami but right then a little bit of panic set in. I'm thinking....."Oh crap we just broke her machine and she's never gonna let us use anything of hers again!" So we decided to just go to her house and let her help us. She was so gracious about our some what unexpected visit and helped us finish it. What had happened was the needle was hitting the bobbin and it dented it. So the thread wasn't coming out. Or something close to that. She was also gracious about that and after talking til 11p.m. we finally went home. I was so proud of myself (and still am). Thanks Cami for letting the cat out of the bag! I had a fun, fun, looong night! Ha ha ha!! And thanks to Sis. McArthur for letting us borrow her sewing machine and helping us to finish the final parts!

I had to cut little slits down each row of panels so that it would have the fringed look.

And here is the finished product!

P.S. click on the pics to enlarge them.

Is Matsumoto's the best...?

Okay so when everyone wants shave ice where do you usually go? I bet your gonna say Matsumoto's right? Well for all the years I have been living here with my family we have always gone to Matsumoto's to get shave ice, and we've always taken friends from the mainland there too! Well i'm gonna go against the popular vote and say Matsumoto's may not be the best. I know, I know your probably shocked but "read" me out before your heads pop. About a month ago Gil and I went to the beach just for fun one weekend and then decided to get shave ice before we went home. Well... we went to matsumoto's and the line of course was very long. What else is new. Anyway we wanted to get home so we decided to get shave ice from Aoki's which is right next door. That changed everything. Aoki's shave ice is so fine and they have a lot more flavors than Matsumoto's. You can add all kinds of things. Matsumoto's is still good but Aoki's is awesome. I must say don't be hate'n until you try it. I don't think you will be disappointed. There was even a guy that had the Aoki's sign tattooed on his back. You know no one would do that unless it was the bomb! So if your ever on the north shore and want to get shave ice...think about Aoki's and let me know if you try it and how it is!

Such a pretty sign

Yum Yum! Aoki's is awesome!

Halloween Stamp Camp.....

I love expanding and improving upon my talents. The most recent development is stamping! My friend Cami and I went to a halloween"stamp camp" about a month ago maybe? Anyway, we made our own Halloween cards. A lady in another ward in our stake does these once a month I believe. People come to her house and she has kits all prepared for you. You just follow the directions on how to make them and there you go. Your cards look like a professional did them. They are super cute and it gave me ideas on how to make other cards. I think this is something that I might really get into. I even won a raffle that she had. Stamps was the prize. I can't wait for the next one!

(click on the pictures to see a bigger view.)

Our frankenstein cards....looks hard to make but it's super easy!

All the cards that I made.

My raffle prize.

What have we been up to....?

Dezi now brushes his teeth every morning and night with mommy. Gotta teach good hygiene when they're young!

We went to the Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park courtesy of Papa Deliz & his job at Pearl Harbor.

Attended cousin Ian's 1st birthday party @ the Kualoa Beach Park.

Attended Hailey's Baptism! And I had to play the piano for a short number.

Went camping for a weekend @ Camp Mokuleia on the North Shore......

Dezi just loved watching all of the sky divers falling from the sky. We were right across the Dillingham air strip.

....and saw a monk seal on the beach just hanging out getting some sun and trying to get rest away from everyone. Gosh these humans just can't leave 'um alone! He He He!

We also supported some of our friends in a SCCA event at the Aloha Stadium! They didn't do to bad but I forgot what places they came in.

Just some other tidbits...

Dezi can stand on his own, walks along things and is very voicestrous. Not that he talks a lot, although he does babble, but he just screams at the top of his lungs now when he's not happy! It almost hurts my ears. He is very much a momma's boy, and although I love that he loves me so much it does get on mommy's nerves sometimes. He is starting to take steps with his walker toy instead of going on his knees, but he still does need assistance with it. When he is in to something he is very much the self do-er. If you try to help him he SCREAMS and throws himself back! He is at that stage where he picks up EVERYTHING he sees and wants to put it in his mouth. And there's a lot to pick up! He still loves his einstein videos along with other learning videos that I got him. He loves to read books as well. At night we read books that have lift the flap, or things embedded in the pages (like the ten little ladybugs or the 5 monkeys, there's little lady bugs and monkey faces that stick out of the pages.), his favorite is a caterpillar book where there is a caterpillar on a rubber band string that chomps through the different color pages. He loves being out and about and gets bored very fast staying at home. He has 7 teeth now, 4 top and 3 bottom and has been grinding them to no end. I give him pacifiers to stop him but he just bites and grinds straight through them. Anyone have any suggestions for this one?

As for Keli I am still at home with Dezi and loving it. I am the YW women secretary so that keeps me busy the other times and pretty soon i'm gonna start back up at school again. On-line of course, and we'll see how that goes. Hopefully I can finally finish my 2 year degree...um.......yeah that's what I said, when did I graduate high school? Ha ha ha ha! Then who knows maybe UH and get my teaching degree?!?!? I feel so out of the loop and old. I've come to the conclusion that I either need to finish school or get a part time job. We'll see what happens. I have been working out and trying to get healthier thanks to a competition between my mom, me, sister-in-law Eva, and brother-in-law Kauwe. The winner gets a pretty hefty prize so we're all out to win! So far I've lost 11 1lbs., not where I want it to leave from however I am losing something, and I have more energy! I have picked up reading...the latest is "A Banner is Unfurled." It's a three part series and I am just loving it. I feel like I can relate to one character in particular. Thanks to my friend Cami who loaned me the books to read.

As for Gil he is still very busy at work. He tried to volunteer for a leave of absence kind of thing for one month (because jobs are getting slower they need and switch out volunteers from the union for a one month vaca. if you will, however they don't get paid in that period), but they basically told him no, and that they needed him. That's what you get for being a good worker! It would have been nice to have him home for 1 month just to do family things and enjoy him more but what can you do? The money is always good. And friends and family keep him busy the other times with jobs they need him to do around their house. It's a blessing and a burden sometimes that he is capable of all that he does to work for our family and then to work for extended family and friends, but admire that he is always willing to help when asked upon. He is still playing his games, "Call of Duty" mostly, and loves playing on-line with my brother and then all his friends.

Okay so that was more than a little tid bit but if no one reads this at least I have it for printing later on.

Blogging frustrations.....

Aaaggghhh!!!

Okay.......one day I will find the perfect layout/background for my blog and make it simple, fun, and most of all US (as in my family). I have been going to every site that I can find(courtesy of other bloggers sites) to look for FREE layouts that just jump out at me and that I will totally LOVE! However, it's frustrating when you go to all these sites, realizing that you just spent 2-3 precious hours on the computer that you could have spent sleeping but thought, "Let's just look and see." and there's nothing that you see that you just really really like. Lately, I've been feeling like my blog is just plain and blah and nothing special. So tonight I attempted the blogging sites again, and again found nothing. This is the closest thing I guess that I kinda like but not really. If any of you have any suggestions, please, I would love to hear them.

I have thought about just not doing my blog all together but then thought that this is really the only "journal" that I have, and I am actually keeping up with it (for now anyway). I would like to continue my online journal so that my children can one day read about all the things that have happened while they were young (if it's still around by then....LOL!!). This is really a good way of keeping sweet and precious memories alive. So please, any suggestions you have are more than welcome. My blog needs help and so do I!

I think... babies just grow to fast!

I heart... my husband of course and my son Dezi.

I dance...dorky, or so I've been told.

I want... to be able to not worry about my family and finances and things like that.

I have... a pretty good life and a wonderful family and extended family and friends.

I am scared of...Big, giantic, HUGE, enormous, ugly brown flying cockaroaches..... UUUGGGHHH!

I hate... people that are mean for no reason and just dumb people that don't think before they do things (mean things or just to annoy you).

I miss...my brother who's living in the mainland, the old YW presidency (I do like the new one it'll just take time getting used to it), Olive Garden and Target.....in that order.

I write...a journal to keep for my kids so they can read about themselves when they were little.

I wish... my family were sealed.

I fear...losing my family!

Introducing the newest member.....

After 39 weeks of being in mommy's belly and growing all ten little fingers and ten little toes he's finally here! We've waited for his arrival and now are enjoying the tiniest baby in our family. All our other babies are growing and crawling and rolling around so it's nice to just hold him and relax. Without further adue I would like to formally welcome the newest addition to the "Thiim" family.

This is......

Kai Teruo Ho'okela Kobayashi

He was born on August 8, 2008 @ 9:20p.m. weighing in at 7lbs. 15oz.

Okay I just thought it would be fun and funny to see how Dezi looks in the cart. As you can see he doesn't like it at all but my how he has grown! He used to fit in it with room to spare and now he's just such a big boy. I can't believe how much he has changed. ....Sniff Sniff... He isn't my sweet itty bitty baby anymore but he's still my sweet baby!!

Three years went by and were still in love....

Happy three year anniversary to us! I have to say I LOVE my husband with all my heart. He is such an amazing man. He works unbelievably hard for us so that we can enjoy the life we have while still being able to spend time with us and our families and is able to help friends and family whenever they need it. He is such a great father, better than I ever thought (It's not that I thought you were gonna be a bad dad your just even better than I imagined). He makes it possible for me to stay home with our son and that in itself is such a blessing in my life that I will never forget. Gil I love you honey and can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together and see what amazing things happen for us in the future!

For our anniversary I planned a picnic. Gil drove us to Waimea Bay and we sat on the sand had a dinner that I made and enjoyed some of the sunset.

This is part of Gil's present. I made a card about our family thanks to a friend of mine (thanks Cami). I think he liked it. He just smiled after and said thank you I love it. Maybe he was trying to hold back his tears? His other gift was a G-shock white watch for work or what ever he wants to wear it for.

And this is a beautiful shot of the "right before the sunset," sunset. It couldn't have been nicer weather.

love ya much! -Gil

Wise Women...Helpful hints and tips....

Okay here are some more tips that I have recieved from our wonderful sister in the ward. She helps us out, figure out how to declutter or better organize our lives that seem to sometimes consume us.

-Use little bins or “Lazy Susans” in your refrigerator to help keep things organized and easy to get to, like yogurt cups, etc.

-Put your child’s artwork, flash cards, map of the world, etc. under a clear plastic tablecloth on your dining table. Makes a great conversation and learning experience while eating.

-To keep up with all the kids’ (and the grown-ups) church and school papers, events and notices, permission slips, tickets, etc.; divide up a big cork board, the side of the refrigerator, front of kitchen cabinets, or have a corkboard for everyone in the family lined up on the wall somewhere, and you’ll be able to keep up with special papers for each person at a glance.

-Use a plastic bin like a busboy to remove dishes all at once from the table after meals.

-Have a fun, colorful spray bottle of water to wash the table clean after meals. The kids will have fun doing this chore.

-Using an ordinary 3-ring binder, lined paper, and pocket dividers; create a section for everyone in the family and you’ll have a place for everyone’s own phone messages, and any messages that need to get to each other. Everyone checks their section daily and makes a check mark on the message to show that they’ve responded to it. This binder becomes a super message center by the phone.

-You can freeze all kinds of foods and use them when you need them such as hot dogs, Twinkies and other snack cakes, milk, etc. Freeze leftover chili, etc. when you have too much or when you know you don’t want to eat leftovers right away. For single or smaller households, you might like to package two pieces of sandwich bread in a plastic baggie, freeze, and use at your convenience. The whole loaf of bread won’t be lying around getting stale. Just be sure to take items out in enough time to defrost.

-Buy a brand new, clean, colorful feather duster for each child when they get the chicken pox. When they feel itchy, they use their feather duster to “scratch” themselves.

Such a bully....

Okay so here the boys are playing at my sister's house. Normally they're not like this (especially Dezi. ) I think he was just getting back at his cousin for all those times he bullied Dezi around. He's been crawling longer so he would take things away from Dezi then crawl away. But that's what babies do. They laugh, they cry, they play and sometimes......................they get even!

Happy Birthday August Babies......

Since there are too many people in my family born in August, we all thought lets just have one big party to celebrate every one's birthday and it was A LOT cheaper than taking 6 people out to dinner on each individual birthday. So we had a pot luck at the beach and I think everything went very well.

Okay so the August birthday's are:

Me, Gil (blue shirt & hat), mom (short lady in white hat), Cody (wrapped in white towel), Hailey (standing next to the cake squinting), Keoni (behind Hailey), and little baby Kai (still inside mommy's belly) who was born on 8-8-08!

We played games like this one where you had to catch a little rubber ball in a skinny net thingy.

We rented a shave ice machine and got to do it ourselves. The kids had more fun doing it so they made every one's shave ice toward the end. Even if you didn't want one, you got one anyway. We only had two flavors. Strawberry and vanilla, but we bought Li hing mui powder and condensed milk to top it off! Yuuuummmy!

We also rented a bouncer which the kids of course had a blast jumping in and even the adults enjoyed it as well. My dad very much enjoyed exercising in it and bouncing with the kids. Oh, Gil is behind the camera and I went jumping earlier. It was pretty much our family and a few friends. So it was okay for the adults to have their fun!

After all the activities and swimming at the beach everyone sang happy birthday!

And the kids got to open their presents!

Keoni

Hailey

Cody

At the end of the day everyone enjoyed themselves. The kids got good presents, our stomachs were stuffed to the rim, with plenty of leftovers for the next day, and we were tired out from the beach. But best of all............we saved money! Yay!

Happy Birthday Mom...

Happy birthday mom! Today is my mom's birthday and so I thought I would honor her on my blog. First of all she is the best mother.......EVER!!! She calls me everyday, well almost, just to see how my day went, what I did, what I'm doing that night. She is so thoughtful and tries to get the best gift(s) for your birthday, Christmas, etc. She is an AMAZING cook! Cooks every Sunday for our big family of what.....16 or so people. But she likes it. It gets our family together once a week and we all enjoy it. She is a great grandmother. If we ask, she watches the kids. Feeds them, bathes them, plays with them, and she has 14 of em'. Can you do that? Anyway I just want to say.....Mom thanks for being there for me and always helping me, giving me advice, letting me rant and rave and cry on your shoulder. So many times you could have said, "I don't want to hear it." But you didn't. You just sat and listened. Thanks for helping me with Dezi. Such knowledge you have...Hehe! I love those talks we have where we just laugh and literally talk about anything. You are such a strong woman. You have survived many obstacles and I'm impressed by your optimism and perseverance! I LOVE you very much and wish you a happy birthday!

Happy birthday tutu! Love~ Dezi
