Who said labor was hard work?...

Well who ever it was, was right!

Warning: this is my pregnancy labor story so feel free to skip this post if it's not your cup of...blog! :)

It all started on a typical early Thursday morning. I got up as usual to take my early morning peepee at around 2:15am. This was totally a routine thing my body did every night at the same time. But as usual (and I don't know exactly why) I used the bathroom with out turning on any lights. I do however turn them on when I go to wash my hands. And boy did I get a BIG surprise!

I'm in the dark walking toward my sink area. I flip the switch...... turn around......and there it is. Staring at me with no care in the world. It watched me walk right pass him and was laughing that he might get away. A BIG B-52 dirty brown, poky legged, antenna swirling cockroach!!! I gasped loud, eyes wide open and feet frozen to the ground for a couple of seconds. Then I woke up my wonderful exterminating husband to handle his business. Whew...thank goodness he is dead. But now the real work begins.

After the cockroach was killed and I was able to calm myself down, my contractions started at 2:30am. They aren't sore at all but are coming consistently 10 min. apart. This is when my doctor told me to go into the hospital. Mind you I was walking around at 5 cm since Tuesday. I wanted to make sure they were consistent enough to go to the hospital so I timed them for about 45min. We then grab bags, pack up Dezi (I did a quick spruce up) and off to my sisters house to drop him off. We left her house at about 3:30 and got to Queens just before 4am. At this time my contractions were painful.

We park in the garage (I didn't want Gil getting lost again), walk to the hospital, go through security, get to the room, I change, they check me and say "Oh your 7-8 cm." and then start to get everything ready. In the mean time my family comes (Dad, mom and sisters) and is trying to help me get through the really bad contractions that I was having. I didn't want the epidural so screaming was my other option. I have to say I did do ok. Way better than when I was in labor with Dezi.

The nurses kept calling my doctor but no answer. He tells me that his pager thing was on silent and didn't hear the vibration. His backup didn't come in time either so the resident doctor delivered me. He was quiet and quite frankly annoyed me because he was so quiet. He didn't really talk unless I asked him an outright question. I kept saying that I had to push because the pressure was coming on but they kept saying "no, don't push." After what seems like an eternity they finally give me the ok to push on my next contraction. So while the doctor is explaining to me what and how to push, I ask "Is there something there or is that her head I feel?" He looks at me (and in the video I see him barely put a finger inside) and says "Well, her head is right here but she's still in the sac so that's why your feeling so much pressure. The baby and the sac is putting pressure on you." He then tells me he's gonna pop it on the next contraction when I push. So on the next contraction I pushed two times and my little princess was born at 4:53am (though my mom will say it was 4:51) Sept. 22, 2011. Total labor was just shy of 2 1/2 hours.

We had already had a name picked out for our little girl and was so excited to finally meet her!
