73. Perks about being the daughter of the stake president....You get to meet all kinds of people like, I met Pres. Monson and had dinner with him when he was still the 1st counselor, Elder Hales (quorum of the 12) ate at our house. President Uchdorf (when he was in the 12) and his wife ate at our house (Gil and I had to pick them up from the Mandarin in Kahala, boy it's tough for them to travel...Hee hee!) and he ate all the last bit of our kim chee and didn't ask if anyone wanted. LOL!! He LOVES kim chee. Elder Dickson/Dickinson (?) of the 70 ate and stayed at our house (He was the most hilarious out of them all). Many more have stayed in our guest room and ate with us but I can't remember them all. It was such a blessing to have those men come in our home and to talk with them and feel their spirit and love for the gospel but also just to be normal with them. Although we were kind of star struck in a way they are totally cool.
One cool story is that my sister had her wisdom's pulled out but my dad had meetings with Elder Nelson. Well she fainted on the floor so naturally I called my dad and he had just picked up Elder Nelson. I told him the situation and Elder Nelson told me to give her extra strength Tylenol and liquids. It seems so futile and such an easy fix but just because they came from Elder Nelson it was "whoa...okay."

4th of July...

Another late post but thought I would share anyway. For the 4th of July weekend Gil asked
his brother, who works at the Marriott in Waikiki, if he could get us a room where we would
be able to see the fireworks display. He said he also a kind of wanted a romantic weekend with me since we haven't had one in a long while. So I of course I jumped at the opportunity. "Kind of romantic" meaning we had Dezi. I'm not comfortable with my in-laws watching him over night because who knows what they would feed him, and my parents already have 4 grandchildren at their house that they can't get rid of. (Haha! Chalei......you know I love you!) So we did invite my family if they wanted to come. My parents, and sister-in-law and her two kids came. It was nice to have them their because Dezi had playmates until bed time.

This is how the night went. We checked in @ 3-ish and my sister-in-law met us in the lobby a few minutes after. We got to the room on the 24th floor, and oogled at the view we had, then got ready for the pool. We met my parents downstairs and I took my mom to the room to get her ready while everyone else went to the pool. Oogled again at the view then went to the pool. We
swam and had fun in our little corner of the pool for about an hour (which is kinda small I might add), then got ready for dinner. We ate at another hotel across from the Marriott at a restaurant called...?....something 247? 24/7? Oh I can't remember. Anyway the restaurant food was very good. And there was hardly anyone in there so I didn't mind that Dezi was kind of running around. After dinner we went back to the room and saw fireworks. We had a little pre-show too. Before the Magic Island started we saw Kapolei's in the distance and the one by Pearl Harbor somewhere....Hickam? Then our show began, and we had front row seats! Thanks Glen for an awesome night. After the fireworks my family went home, then Gil and I started our own fireworks! Nah just kidding we had Dezi in the room. Or did we? Ha ha!

Awesome view from our balcony.

We were in the corner all the way at the top. The little spots in the water are people
that have been out there all day waiting for fireworks.

Our fun little corner of the pool.

At night. This is a funky shot. I love it!

And this is what we saw from our balcony.

Daddy and Bubby

In the morning we ate breakfast at Burger King, not at B.K. we ate on the beach and walked up Waikiki and back. So much has changed since I was last there.

And this is a cool motorcycle that was made entirely out of wood. Gil thought it was the coolest thing that he ever saw. Dezi kept saying....Car? car? So cute. Happy 4th!

72. I loved YW growing. I especially loved the camping but as I got older I didn't like sleeping in the tent with like 8 other girls, so being the daughter of the stake president at the time I would sleep with my dad in his tent or next to him on a cot under the stake tarp. I love perks!

Carnival fun...

I know it's been a while since the carnival happened but I have been quite busy. So, yes we did go to the carnival, yes we did go at 12 noon when they opened, yes it was blazing hot, yes we did sweat so much that we could have filled up a baby pool and yes, we were crazy to do so, but YES, we did have fun!
I must say Gil has been more adventurous lately and I'm loving it. Usually he doesn't do the normal things you would do on a weekend like shopping cause he's just not interested or "there's gonna be too many people there and no parking." He doesn't like going to the beach cause, "It's gonna be too crowded and we're not going to get any shade." So what do we end up
doing? Staying home so daddy can play his video games. Whoopee! So needless to say I am loving that he is getting more in to the "family togetherness" thing.
The fair wasn't bad at all. We went right when they opened cause we already went to the swap meat. When we got inside there was absolutely no one. We got free prizes just for playing even though we didn't win anything. Here's a little recap of our adventurous day...

We saw all the animals at the petting zoo. I think the llama was his favorite cause it was the closest. We did not pay $4 per person to go inside for 15-20 min. I don't even know he would have freaked out being so close or if he really would have enjoyed it. So for now, touching through the fence will have to suffice.

Dezi and daddy rode on the Ferris wheel... he freaked out at first but quickly got used to it. So much so that he wanted to sit by himself which daddy let him do until he stood on the bench and tried to look over the back of the chair. Imagine my angry shock when I saw the pictures later on.

Mommy and Dezi riding the Merry-Go-Round... Yee hee!

This is Dezi with half of his spoils. What a lucky kid.

Daddy trying to show off his baseball skills. To bad he totally missed. Aaaawwww.....maybe next time honey. But look at that form.

Dezi played the ring toss game. He only threw the rings right in front. Oh well, at least he had fun.

Gil kept playing this game because he remembered always going home with one as a kid. He has much determination. To bad it didn't pay off. This guy didn't give us a free prize. Too bad.

Like I said practically no one. The best time to go.

We got on the rides really quick, and even got some free games and prizes. I guess those are perks for being the early birds.

100 things #69...

69. Because I sucked my thumb for a while (I truly want to say I think I stopped at 5 maybe 6 but my family will argue till I was like 8-9 but that is NOT true.) I had to wear a bionater for 2 years (which honestly I didn't wear that much cause let's face it, it's embarrasing to a pre-teen) to bring my bottom jaw forward, then braces for two years to straighten my teeth, then a retainer (which I stopped wearing because of Gil) at night to keep them straight. My top stayed the same but my poor bottom teeth I think got worse. Ugh! I might try and straighten them again.

100 things #67...

67. I have seen a tornado when it ripped through our tiny town in Texas.
My sister and I were at a piano recital (which by the way I had to finish in the dark and the judge marked me off cause I messed up when the lights went out), when the tornado hit. They had everyone leave because it started getting closer to the college. So when we left we could see it coming. It wasn't a huge tornado but it did do a lot of damage. Our neighbors had parts of their roofs ripped off and trees uprooted but our house was pretty much okay. Just a lot of mess in our yard.

100 things #62...

62. I am very much a pocket calendar person. I write everything down in my pocket calendar and take it where ever I go but I never look at it. I look at my big calendar to see the events/appointment's of the month. I should probably just not carry a little calendar huh? It would be a hard habit to break but will probably save me a little money. Hhhmmm.

100 things #61...

61. I shave my legs from my toes to my bikini line.

So how was your family camp...?

Well...
-we did get to sleep during the day
-of course we went to the beach EVERY day.

-got to shower in our own hot water showers.
(both are showers but since we only had one water heater the left one was a shower & the right one we used as a changing thing.) Of course us girls went all together and took 2 hours (5 sisters). We can't help that we have fun talking and laughing all the time. Sorry guys!

This is my dads shower with connecting changing room.
It comes with the bags that you fill with water and leave in the sun then hang it up to shower.

-the men got firewood again from the forest and Gil almost got stung by this scorpion.
(click on the picture to enlarge & see it better)
He and my brother in-law went to lift it up and he didn't even see it till it moved toward him.
-I also got stung by a Portuguese man-o-war the day we were leaving.
-my brother in law got stung by a centipede.

We played all kinds of games...
-tennis
-catch
-frisbee
-volleyball
and...
-kickball (my brother is serious now. He's got his socks all the way up.)

Go centipedes! Wa cha! Imagine us saying this with the arm stinging action! LOL!!

That was our team name. We said you had to come up with something about camp. Since there's centipedes everywhere that was our name. The other team was the "Hot, hot, hotties!" (With the sizzling finger on okole action) since it was super hot during the day.

-We did get to take naps but some of us slept more than others. Way more! I decided to put a dirty diaper in my brothers face. It sat there for the longest time. When he woke up and saw it and saw us staring at him, he couldn't do anything but crack up!

-we chased birds away
-chased flies away
-and learned how to play the "ohu something something."
(Oh uncle Gordon would be so disappointed that I can't remember the Hawaiian name for it.)
The nose flute. Uncle Gordon always has Hawaiian crafts for us to do and this time was making our own nose flutes. My brother is a pro at it now. Here he is getting ready to play.
We always have a great time when we go camping. If anyone wants to join us next year were doing it in march the spring break week.

100 things #60...

70. In intermediate I participated in writing down not so nice things in a note book about a girl in my class (She spread rumors about me and I didn't like her for it). She found the book and wanted to beat me up after school. But after telling my older cousin about it she came down to my school and threatened the girl. I didn't know my cousin was like that but no one messed with me since and treated me VERY well.

I know I haven't posted my 100 things in a while. I think I stopped at like 50. Don't worry I will start doing 50-100 starting tomorrow. I went camping with the family, then a romantic weekend with my husband and I am just now getting caught up with my sleep and laundry and getting back into my routine. That's my excuse!
