Bishop Museum...

A while back we took Dezi to the Bishop Museum to see the Dinosaur exhibit. He didn't like it one bit. They had dinosaurs set up outside on the lawn, he didn't like those. He didn't like the dinosaurs inside, bones or whole. But he did like everything else we saw. The Hawaiian, the volcano and sea animal fossil shells.

It was a fun day for me and Gil though. We learned new things and saw some interesting things. I haven't been there since a field trip I took for class in intermediate. Can you believe that! I couldn't remember anything about the Museum except for the whale that hangs in the Hawaiian section. HA!

So not sure about the dino behind him.

He kept saying "No no no no!"

FREAKED OUT....when he saw this thing.

and MAJORLY FREAKED OUT.....when this popped out from behind the bushes roaring!

He kind of had fun with this activity...you brush the rice away to uncover the fossil. But there was a dino in the corner so he making sure that it wasn't making noise or moving.

He had fun with this. Daddy and Dezi sliding down a lava tube?

I think that's what it was. After the dino exhibit we walked around to see everything else which Dezi loved. There's to many photos but he did have a great time.

Happy Birthday Dezi...

For Dezi's 2nd birthday we took him to Farrell's at Pearl Ridge. He had been there for his 1st birthday with family but of course didn't remember it. I thought it was okay. Nothing really that makes me want to go back, but since Gil missed his 1st birthday at Farrell's he wanted to go there to experience it for himself.
I thought Dezi might like the drums and noise (since he makes a lot of it at home and thinks it's funniest thing.) But no. He didn't like the noise. He didn't like the people. He didn't really like his dinner except for the fries, he most definitely did NOT like having to sit down at the table. But he did like his dessert. Oh well, what can you do for a 2 year old.
I feel like I have been blessed with a great son. He is fairly an easy child and doesn't give me to much grief (as long as I play with him and give him my full attention....He he) . But he really is good and I'm glad he's mine.

Scared of the noise while everyone was singing happy birthday!

LOVED his fries!

Loved his ice cream cone!

Dezi Kain you have grown up so fast. Too fast for mommy! I love your fun loving personality, smile, laughter and cheesy faces. You can make me laugh just by looking at me seriously and then putting that big grin on your face. You are so energetic. Sometimes more than I can handle but I have fun trying to keep up. At times you are cuddly and just want to be held and read to. And I love when you grab my face and give me kisses for no reason. You are smart and sensitive but also tough.

I have been so blessed beyond measure and can't imagine a day without you. I love you more than words can express and can't wait to see how you grow and mature. I love you so much!

Love, Mommy & Daddy

Our summer...

"Dezi, what do you want to do today?"

Cars? Cars? Mooooommy....caaaaaars!

YM/YW Halloween Party...

This year the young men and women of our ward put on a little Halloween party for the primary kids. There was face painting, donut eating, other fun games and I think all the kids had a blast. They dressed up in costumes ready for the fun. The youth did a great job in getting things together and making sure the kids had fun. Some of them even dressed up too.

If you obviously couldn't tell from the picture, Dezi was Handy Manny, a character from the Disney channel. Okay I have to laugh because no one knew who he was. Even I didn't. I was so late this year getting into the Halloween spirit that I just put him in jean pants and gave him his tools to carry around which he didn't. He was actually afraid of all the weird looking people that night.

At least you could tell what I was. Thanks to Marj we were gypsies! Pretty hot ones if you ask me. LOL!!!

This is one of the games that the YM came up with. You get blind folded and have to stick your hand in boxes of scabs, boogers, brains, warts, and toes and guess what it is, but in the middle box, one of the YM grabs your hand from inside the box. It was pretty scary cause your not expecting it. A lot of the younger kids didn't want to finish the boxes once the hand grabbed em'.

And this is one of our YW painting a face. She is a very talented artist I found out.

Over all the night was a success and the kids enjoyed themselves.

So long Lyla...

I think maybe everyone has had their hoopty car's right? Well this was mine. I named her Lyla the day I got her. (it was my brother's car, then mine). She is a 1994 Nissan 200sx. She used to be green and I kept her pretty clean on the inside. I started driving her at the very very end of my senior year in high school. She has always been very good to me but as she got older she became less reliable: Sparks plugs always going, losing power all of sudden and thinking I'm going to roll straight down the big hill backwards, blowing a tire at the airport, and breaking down on me on the freeway a mile from my house at midnight (thanks honey and all your friends who came and got me.), ....just to name a few. That last one I listed was the last draw for Gil and when we were dating (I know how it sounds but we pretty much knew we were going to get married at that point.) he took my old car to drive to work and he bought me my brand new 2004 white Honda Accord, that I currently drive, for my birthday! I was totally in heaven cause this was my something new......NEW! And it was mine. I have always had hand me downs from my two older sisters, which I didn't mind too much because I thought they were cool. But this was the first thing that was all mine.

I absolutely love my car now and can't imagine giving it up. I have named her Rosie since the day I started driving her, hence the rose on my shifting gear. She is my baby and I still am anal about keeping her clean. Although sometimes she does get really dirty do to the fact that I have a toddler, I give her a good deep antibacterial-ized cleaning at least 2 times a month.

Goodbye Lyla...You have lived a full life! Enjoy your new owner's. Hope they can make you whole again.

To beat the heat...

As you all know this summer and fall has been super-dee-duper hot, muggy and sticky! To say the least. So to beat the heat I took Dezi to the Wet n' Wild Park a couple of times just to cool off and have some fun! He has gotten braver and slides down the little slide by himself and wants to do the big kid one all the time but needs me to go with him. When he's not sliding he's playing with the water that shoots out of the ground. I'm sooooo glad those days are gone......for now.
